I was amazed by how close we could get to nature, despite being just a few hours away from San Jose.
During the night tour, we were able to observe the nocturnal animals such as basilisks, tarantulas, and working ants. On the early morning tour, we saw sloths, toucans, rare birds, and even rubber trees. It was a truly satisfying experience, and I'm in awe of the tour guides' knowledge and their ability to quickly spot animals.
The hotel staff were also very kind. It was very convenient that they setting a water dispenser near each room. We didn't have any trouble with getting enough water.
We also had the opportunity to try Costa Rican cuisine during the buffet dinner and breakfast. The food was delicious, especially the fresh fruits which were absolutely amazing.

Ein sehr schönes Hotel. Etwas unscheinbar an der Hauptstrasse 4 gelegen. Hervorragende, sehr gepflegte Zimmer mit Regendusche, Klimaanlage und Deckenventilatoren. Unser Zimmer lag direkt an einem Fluß mitten im Regenwald. Man kann hier unglaublich viele Vogelarten, Frösche und andere Reptilien entdecken und fotografieren. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Unser Frühstück war umfangreich und lecker. Leider waren wir nur einen Tag auf unsrerer Rundreise vor Ort. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder....dann aber mit einem längeren Aufenthalt..????

Lieu exceptionnel chambre spacieuse ldu sol au plafond tout en bois environnement agréable avec la rivière petit bémol la restauration n est pas au niveau de l'hôtel et prix au dessus de la qualité hôtel à conseiller

We stayed 3 nights at the Selva Verde Lodge. We had a room with air conditioning and fans. The room was very comfortable, but it had a some musty smell (probably due to the heat and humidity of the climate).
We ate all our meals there. The food was very tasty & good quality.
It's a great area for bird and animal watching. There is a stream there.
Everyone there was very friendly.
This is an excellent place to experience the humid, tropical jungle.

Een prachtige lodge in de jungle. Een aanrader! Goed bereikbaar, de lodge ligt aan route #4, dat is een drukke weg, maar daar heb je niet heel veel last van, het went ???? super aardig personeel, attent en vriendelijk.
De lodge is verhoogd gebouwd, zodat je een mooi (uit)zicht hebt op de beplanting. Enorm veel vlinders en vogels, vooral veel toekans!
Deze lodge is een aanrader, je hoeft pas om 12 uur uit te checken, dus je kan heerlijk op de galerij gaan zitten en van de natuur genieten. Bij het ontbijt heb je uitzicht op een vogel voederplek, waardoor je de veelzijdigheid aan vogels nog beter kan bekijken.
De lodge is verhoogd gebouwd, zodat je een mooi (uit)zicht hebt op de beplanting. Enorm veel vlinders en vogels, vooral veel toekans!
Deze lodge is een aanrader, je hoeft pas om 12 uur uit te checken, dus je kan heerlijk op de galerij gaan zitten en van de natuur genieten. Bij het ontbijt heb je uitzicht op een vogel voederplek, waardoor je de veelzijdigheid aan vogels nog beter kan bekijken.

Schöne Lodge. Wir haben zuerst ein Bungalow bekommen was über einem schlecht begebaren Weg zum Haupthaus lag wo man auch noch eine vielbefahrene Straße überqueren musste das geht gar nicht. Am besten sofort ein Zimmer in der Anlage buchen. Die ganze Anlage war überdeckt wo man trockenen Fußes zum Restaurant und Früstücksraum kam da es doch mal öfters regenet. Morgens gutes Früstück vorallem mit extrem leckeres Obst.

The lodge straddles a main highway. We were allocated a bungalow the other side of the highway from the restaurant etc and about 300 yards up a hill. No one shows us the way. We had to unlock a padlocked gate. The bungalows were shabby, the hike back to the reception area was a nightmare: huge trucks were thundering along the road belching fumes, and we had to cross on foot each time we wanted to get anywhere We were thoroughly distressed and thankfully found a cabin at Ara Ambigua instead.

Beautiful large rooms with AC and ceiling fans. Abundant lighting, wonderful bathroom with double sinks and large shower. Complimentary coffee in the room. Hair dryer is also provided.
The restaurant has buffet service for all meals. There is a pool. Extra towels are provided in your room. There are water filling stations throughout the facility. The grounds are huge, beautiful and well maintained. Birding is excellent!

Nice rooms situated in the forest. Beautiful grounds to walk through. Only complaint, they do not allow smoking on the property. Had to stand in the street.

Nous avons séjourné 2 nuits en janvier 2024 dans une très belle chambre côté rivière très grande et bien aménagée au milieu de la forêt tropicale. Café, eau, deux grands lits doubles, grande salle de bain très propre et bien entretenue. Les accès se font par une magnifique coursive couverte en hauteur.
Il y a un restaurant buffet et une pizzeria. Les deux sont bons, la pizza est délicieuse. Le buffet du petit-déjeuner change bien des autres petits-déjeuners des hôtels. Nous avons également trouvé le buffet du déjeuner bon, mais nous l'avons trouvé un peu plus cher. Il est cependant facile d’observer les oiseaux à cette période. Allez-y le soir avec une lampe torche pour observer les grenouilles.
La piscine est très belle et généralement pas très fréquentée.
Il y a un magnifique sentier de forêt tropicale au bord de la rivière et un très long, quelque peu aventureux, de l'autre côté de la route.
Vous pouvez traverser le pont sur la rivière, mais uniquement jusqu'à la porte. Après cela, vous ne pourrez continuer qu'avec une visite réservée. Nous ne l'avons pas fait.
Je recommande l'endroit pour un dépaysement total.

Eine richtig schöne Anlage mitten im Regenwald. Die Zimmer auf der Flussseite sind sehr groß und gut eingerichtet. Kaffee, Wasser, zwei große Doppelbetten, großes Bad und sehr sauber und gepflegt.
Es gibt ein Buffetrestaurant und eine Pizzaria. Beides ist gut, die Pizza lecker. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist eine willkommene Abwechslung zu den sonstigen Frühstücken in den Hotels. Das Mittagsbuffet fanden wir zwar auch gut, aber wir fanden es etwas teurer. Es lassen sich allerdings währenddessen gut Vögel beobachten.
Der Pool ist sehr schön und meistens nicht so viel los.
Es gibt einen schönen Regenwaldtrail auf der Flussseite und einen sehr langen, etwas abenteuerlichen auf der anderen Straßenseite. Dieser dauert etwa 1-1,5h und hat den Kindern sehr gefallen. Er ist allerdings deutlich anspruchsvoller als gedacht.
Man kann über die Brücke über den Fluss gehen, aber nur bis zum Tor. Danach geht es nur mit gebuchter Führung weiter. Haben wir nicht gemacht.

Eine sehr weitläufige Anlage in der man das Gefühl hat mitten im Dschungel zu wohnen. Wir haben einen Abend eine tolle Exkursion auf dem Gelände unternommen und sehr viele Kleintiere gesehen. Unser Zimmer war sehr groß mit zwei Doppelbetten und sehr sauber! Toll war auch der Umgang um die Zimmer mit Sitzgelegenheit und Hängematte. Das italienische Restaurant (Pizza, Pasta, Salat) ist sehr ordentlich. Das Frühstücksbüffet ist etwas spärlich, allerdings mit sehr großem und sehr gutem Obstbuffet. Freundliches Personal.
Mecker: Der Pool ist leider recht lieblos angelegt und lädt nicht wirklich zum Verweilen ein.

Pros: The location along the river in a nature reserve is incredible. All the cabins are elevated above the grounds and interconnected with a series of covered pathways that can be disorienting at first, but one quickly adjusts. Connected to the park but on the other side of the road is an excellent one plus hiking loop trail where we spotted Howler monkeys, poison dart frogs and other reptiles. The breakfast is ok but has an excellent bird watching vista. The beds are creaky but also ok, and we took advantage of the hammocks outside each room. Cons: Make sure you book some off-site activity between 10 and noon because the gas powered leaf blowers create so much noise and air pollution that you might think that motorcycles are zig-zagging across the grounds. And this continues non-stop for nearly two hours. Give the workers brooms instead of polluting noise machines and this place would warrant five stars
