Spent two nights here on my honeymoon and was blown away with the care and luxury provided by staff at the Merrion. The on-site amenities are not matched by any other hotel I have stayed in from the food, to the spa, to the attention to detail. Also, the French Toast is to die for and is the cherry on top of a perfect hotel experience. While there we wanted for nothing. Excellent waiters and staff.
Excellent luxury five star hotel. The staff are professional, plentiful and polite. The property is very well maintained, and the rooms are well appointed.
I went to have an afternoon tea with my friend and while the selection of teas was vast, the sandwiches were quite rotten unfortunately. They ruined the whole atmosphere esp for the price we paid.
Staff were very friendly and attentive
The ambience was very traditional and I enjoyed it a lot
This is a stunning hotel. The staff are well presented, friendly and helpful.
I stayed here for two nights recently and I left some valuable jewellery in my room unbeknownst to me, until I was at Dublin airport about to board my flight to London.
The staff later found my jewellery and contacted me to let me know. I’m very pleased with the result and just with their manner in how they dealt with it.
A really wonderful hotel right in the city of Dublin.
Unfortunately I can't write a review of the hotel itself, as I could not book a room, since the hotel didn't reply properly to my mailed requests.
I first sent this mail on the 6th of February:
"Good evening,
on WEBSITE CENSORED I saw this special room:
LINK TO THE PICTURE OF THE ROOM CENSORED.
On Your homepage I couldn't find that room, is it bookable? I prefer
it's design much more over the other Deluxe king rooms."
Since i got no reply I asked on the 8th:
"Good morning,
did You receive my mail?"
Again no reply.
Ok, I thought, maybe my mail got stuck in the SPAM, so I send the mail from another mailadress on 23.2 and this time I got a reply:
"Thank you for your email. I am delighted you are interested in staying with us.
Can I ask what date you are interested in staying in one of our Deluxe King Rooms?
Kind Regards,"
Yes maybe I should have thought of giving this information at once, so I replied immediatly from both mail adresses giving the 2 dates, which are possible for me.
Again no reply.
On 24.2. I sent the mail once more from the 2nd mailaddress, guess what? All dead.
On 26.2 I sent the last time from a third address, again no reply.
I have no idea what is going on in this hotel, but a 5 star like this should be able to reply properly to requests.
Tomorrow I will book some other hotel, as I would like to fix everything.
The Merrion Hotel is one of my favourite places to photograph wedding in Dublin City Centre.
Not only it's a historical hotel, but it's iconic as a wedding venue. The rooms are extremely beautiful and the service is always impeccable.
If you are looking for timeless and elegant place nested in the Dublin City Centre then Merrion is the place to go.
We had vegan afternoon tea here and it was exceptional. The cakes and scones were the highlight as well as the vegan clotted cream and lemon curd. We went to London a few weeks later and none of the vegan afternoon teas compared to this one even though they were typically way more expensive than this one! The flavor on the savories could be improved a bit as they definitely felt like after thoughts but the sweets and scones absolutely made up for it. The ambience was quaint and cute as well.
Seriously one of the best VEGAN afternoon teas out there. I've been to half a dozen afternoon teas in London and none of them were better than this place, or really even that close.
Honestly, the savory sandwiches were not that good. But, the cakes and scones were absolutely amazing. I still dream about those scones. And they even had vegan lemon curd and vegan clotted cream. The tea and service was alright, and I enjoyed the fancy ambience, but the sweets are the stars.
10/10

There is always plenty of friendly and incredibly helpful staff. The rooms and facilities are all of a high standard in a beautiful Georgian Dublin.
The only disappointment was no chocolates this time after turndown...these little treats in the evening are great with a cuppa or night cap.
Having stayed in all the 5☆ hotels in Dublin, the Merrion always comes out on top as they are consistent and their attention to detail is superior.
