I have been to clontarf Castle many times. We had a ladies lunch on Friday for our school. We where in the big room downstairs. It was set up beautifully. The food and drink service was excellent . The food was excellent especially feeding 300 + ladies !
It was a great day and the poor bar staff didn't know what hit them after lunch when the Irish mammy is let out for the day! . Trojan work lads ! The craic was mighty xxx Thanks
Our stay here at The Clontarf Castle Hotel has been a wonderful! Due to a medical emergency my second night here, we became even more acquainted with the amazing staff than most. We cannot express enough the gratitude we have for the rapid response and assistance we were given during our time of need in a very unfamiliar environment. The heartfelt, genuine compassion and concern from complete strangers has been uplifting! After the all-clear from the local hospital we were able to fully enjoy this luxuriously decorated castle and our spacious room. We looked forward to the full Irish breakfast( with a beautifully set table and impeccable wait staff)every morning as well as the best Fish and Chips! Every request -from a daily call for a taxi, a bottle of wine waiting upon check in- to a scale to weigh our overloaded suitcases was met seemlessly. What great ambassadors for this beautiful country! Thank you for making a very worrisome ordeal such a memorable experience!
Incredible art hotel. Beautiful, helpful and gorgeous. The bed was very comfortable. The lights in the bathroom were very peaceful. The bar/ restaurant was very kind, friendly and delicious. Peaceful place to be and stay. The coastline was a block away and very pretty.
Navigating my experience at this castle has left me quite conflicted. On one hand, the grandeur of the castle itself is undeniable—the halls, reception area, and common spaces are simply breathtaking, exuding a sense of history and luxury. However, my excitement waned upon entering my room. It was disappointingly average and basic, lacking the charm and elegance I had expected from such a grand setting. Frankly, I've stayed in more comfortable rooms at 2-star hotels.
To compound matters, the culinary experience was equally underwhelming. Despite the picturesque surroundings and lofty price point, the food was surprisingly bland and tasteless. It felt like a missed opportunity to showcase the region's culinary delights and left me questioning the overall value of the stay.
While the reception area teased at a luxurious and unforgettable experience, the reality fell short. The stark contrast between the majestic exterior and lackluster interior and dining left me with a sense of disappointment. Given my experience, I cannot in good conscience recommend this establishment to others seeking a truly exceptional stay.
Didn't stay overnight at a birthday party ???? had a great night fabulous hotel and spotless hot food perfect only let down was the very poor selection of 0.0 beers and Spirits. I will return.
Beautiful restored castle. Took the kids for a night and stayed in a family room, lovely. On the northern end of the city so about a half hour bus/train ride to get into the center of downtown, but it's in a quiet neighborhood so no need to worry about noise.
Great service. Restaurants and bars are fab. The hotel is modern the lobby and restaurant are parts of the older structure. Safe clean area within walking distance of public transport. Free parking
Historical castle with modern accommodations and conference room. Very soft, comfortable bedding and luxurious shower and bathroom. Family room is spacious.
We stayed at Clontarf as its nice to explore Dublin city but be able to stay outside of the city in a quiet hotel! The castle is stunning and we loved the history of the hotel
The entryway is all high ceilings which is stunning and fire lighting, its very cosy.
The only thing we did not like was the style of our room the colours were a bit odd and bright compared to the style of the rest of the hotel, our room was in the new part of the building I believe not the original castle building.
Food at the bar was lovely they were able to fit us in for some drinks and snacks. The cocktails were really nice they have a good selection! Staff was really friendly.
I have been staying here with my partner every time we come to Dublin. The staff is always super friendly. We just got back last week from staying here for two weeks. We had a little friends and family gathering at Karen at the Knight's Bar went the extra mile to take good care of us. Hope to be back soon.
It was a really cool experience. Spent most of our time out and about, but when we were in our room I would've appreciated a smart TV with things like Netflix on it. Had to settle for cable channels.
Also, trying to sleep was difficult with someone wheeling a cart (guessing trash?) behind the hotel. It was very noisy, continued until probably 2245. There is no AC so we had the window open.
