THIS REVIEW IS NOT ABOUT THE ACCOMMODATION

I didn’t stay at Gweta Lodge but I contacted them to do the activity: Ntwetwe Pan ½ Day Trip - Includes Meerkat Visit (990 Pula per person).

They picked us up at 6am in the morning in our campsite and 1 ½ hours later we arrived to a field where the boy in charge to find them showed us 2 meerkats between 5-10 meters distance. The guide explained us that they are shy and not habituated to humans so they will not get close to us. We expected to see more of them and get closer as it was written in the description of Gweta Lodge website: “colony of habituated Meerkats” we just saw two in the distance, “These Meerkats are human habituated” the first thing the guide said it’s that they are not, “almost touching distance” it was around 5 meters the closest, “After visiting and interacting with the Meerkats” there was not interaction at all.

We find out that in Planet Baobab they have a group habituated to humans that they even climb on you. The activity with them is more expensive but also 2 more hours and includes food.

Гарне місце для зупинки по дорозі з Касане до Маун. Спочатку нам дали старий сімейний номер де був неприємний запах і всі меблі були старі. Але потім господар нам розповів що вони будуть робити там ремонти і нам запропонували два нових двомісних номера( гарне відношення до клієнтів) . Їжа була смачна і з гарною ціною.

At first, we were given an old room for 3 people. In which everything was not in the best form. But then the host offered us to change the room and offered two new rooms, which were great with air conditioners and everything new. Clean linen and rooms.

Buen sitio previo a visitar Makgadikgadi pan. Agradable trato con los clientes tes, buena. Comida, piscina y todo muy bien cuidado.

Very nice place great experience

Des panneaux sont régulièrement affichés sur la route jusqu'a Gweta Lodge affichant que l'on peut camper. Nous avons roulé 100km à vélo avant de pouvoir y arriver exténués. Ils n'ont pas voulu que l'on campe. On a dû repartir et dormir dans notre tente au bord de la route.

In der Gweta Lodge wird kein Camping mehr angeboten. Man hat sich entschieden auf diesr Fläche für weitere Chalets zu bauen, die bald fertig gestellt sein werden. Da wir ohne Reservierung eingetroffen sind, mußten wir ein Rondavall mit Ventilator nehmen. Es war eine furchtbare Nacht. Es war total warm im Zimmer, dass wir kaum schlafen konnten. Der Ventilator hat gar keinen Nutzen gehabt. In der Nacht um 23 Uhr wurden die Mülltonnen an unserem Rondavall vorbeigerollt und das hat einen sehr großen Lärm verursacht auf den sehr holperigen Wegen, die sich durch die ganze Lodge ziehen. Die Beleuchtung im ganzen Anwesen war so dunkel, dass man die holperigen Wege kaum sehen konnte. Hier kann man sich leicht den Fuß brechen oder stürzen. Das Essen war leider gar nix. Großes T-Bone Steak wurde aufgetischt, war aber noch sehr blutig und hat sehr lange gedauert bis es kam. Die Pommes konnte man vergessen. Die Anlage an sich machte einen guten Eindruck. Auf dem Parkplatz der Lodge, im Eingangsbereich sind die Parkplätze zu eng und es war dort allerhand Trubel mit Safarifahrern und Kleinbussen von Gruppenreisen und dann noch Einheimische und Personal und Hühner die rumliefen, alles hektisch.

Alles nur schmutzig, ungepflegt und verwahrlost. Das Wasser im Pool ist so trüb, dass ich nicht einmal den Fuss heineinhalten würde.
Im Zimmer fehlte beim Sessel ein Fuss, nie mehr ins Gweta Loge!

Lodge (bar, réception, restaurant ) et plus particulièrement les chambres sont sombres. On n'y voit rien. 3 ou quatre lampes dans la chambre mais cachées dans des recoins. Obligé d'utiliser une frontale !
Sinon baobabs majestueux et visite aux suricates surprenante.

Terrible experience with Gweta Lodge. We love the southern African region and decided to search for new experiences here, so found a possibility to sleep in salt pans and started to look around where we could accomplish it. We chose to use Gweta Lodge, they had to pick us up from one of Maun hotels. Communication was extremely rough with them, but we agreed on pick-up time and details eventually.
Worst was pick-up day, we waited for 2 hours with no communication with us, when Gweta lodge “manager” called to the hotel where we are staying and said that the driver isn’t reachable, that's why no one picked us up. Worst thing is that I was calling them multiple times and they were not picking up the phone.
Eventually, they said they will arrange another pick-up, which looked sketchy as we wouldn’t be able to reach the lodge till the salt pan expedition start time. The driver came and he was so weird, he wasn’t even talking with us and trying to force us to get to his car, we couldn’t trust this person. It felt like he was planning to rob us.
We contacted the lodge and said that we won’t go. They agreed to pay a refund, but this was the last thing we heard, they didn't refund and we are still waiting for about a month. So I think this lodge is just a scam, my recommendation is never go here. Stay safe and pick another lodge which will be a little bit more expensive, don’t make our mistake!

Skvělé jídlo, velmi milá obsluha. Škoda, že je všude nepořádek, kolem pokoje odpadky, slepice.

Looks like a place with opportunities but the care is not fully right. Mixture of experiences. Quite good meals, nice central place , but the room we had (family room no 12) was not very pleasant, but with air conditioning. The more you go from the centre the more mess you can find (also outside of the lodge)

We didn't stay at Gweta Lodge but stopped in to do the village tour which was excellent and a good price. Our guide was very friendly and we learned a lot about the Botswanan way of life. He also managed to track down some Mopani worms to try....

Excellente adresse

Lodge sympathique, offrant une option non négligeable. Celle de dormir à 1h30 de l'établissement dans un lac salé asséché, à la belle étoile. Repas, feu de camp et voie lactée à 180 °.
Magnifique

Rooms had a weird smell, like you were breathing in 200 year old stale air. No hot or cold water, electricity off for hours. But close to the meerkats and salt flats , which were cool and the only reason to ever stay here.

Gweta Lodge its so beautiful guys, if ever want to refresh your journey to North West of Botswana, just pause at that Lodge.
