I usually stay exclusively at Marriott properties when I can as they tend to have the best customer service. This Marriott had great service but lacked in amenities.
-Great location on the Main Street of Reykjavik.
-Room was adequate with a great shower/bathroom.
-Poor layout with no real amenities, it appeared to have a small/dark gym in the basement.
-No parking made it tricky to bring all of the luggage to the hotel.
Pay the extra money if you can to stay at Edition.
The lobby is small but staff were very friendly and helpful. Rates were reasonable for very clean and well furnished rooms. Rooms are the larger end of European sizes, with included modern restrooms, comfortable beds, and some nice touches. Rooms face either a shopping street or alleyway, with characteristically interesting (in a good way) nordic architecture. The night club adjacent can be a little noisy on weekends until mid evening, but you should be out exploring at that time anyway.
Rooms run quite warm when we were there in early October. A baseboard radiator under the window has a nob that can be turned to reduce the heat. A heating rack in the bathroom can be turned on to help dry your items.
Lastly, while it doesn't bother me, the icelandic "sulphur" smelling hot water didn't seem to be an issue here. They likely filter their hot water, which I know some may prefer. The water is perfectly safe from the tap either way.
A coffee making machine was there, but we had to ask for milk, which we were given.
Sauna in the room was great and the welcome sparking wine was lovely .
