We stayed at the suite for 2 nights, and unfortunately I find the price completely out of proportion.
The location is beautiful, the room very tastefully designed as well as the bathroom. The staff were also very kind and professional.
Some things to improve upon (this is my personal opinion, based on other exceptional 5-star hotel stays)
- the assortment of vegetarian food at the Tapas bar and Cibus restaurant was very poor. A soup and a very average pizza was all I could order, especially considering the branding of “sustainable” it is below par to offer less carbon intensive food choices (read:less meat=less carbon emissions)
-I requested for the room to be cleaned at 10am (our family was headed out for a few hours to hike, we have a 2 year old) and when we got back at 12.30 the room-service trays were still in front of the door and the room had not been cleaned.
-There were single use plastic containers in the bathroom. This is absolutely below standard if you call yourself a “sustainable hotel”, especially if branding yourself as “the most sustainable hotel in Spain”! In the rest of Europe most hotels (if not all luxury hotels) no longer use single use plastic toiletries, this is a very simple measure to reduce plastic waste and a basic measure regarding waste management.
-As a pregnant woman I was not “allowed” to use the spa. I feel that this is an infringement on my personal choice, in my culture we use saunas throughout the pregnancy and I prefer to be given the opportunity to decide for myself considering the “risk” rather than being prohibited from doing something like relaxing in a 30 degree pool. I’m aware that this is a measure to reduce liability for the hotel should I go into labour, but a policing policy that I find distasteful for a 5 star hotel.
To summarize, unfortunately, I found the experience to epitomize a greenwashing exercise and charge an exhibit any premium for a room/experience.
